Wayne Gold

Biography

Wayne L. Gold received his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1988 and did his residency training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University of Toronto. In 1998, he completed a Fellowship in Medical Education in the Office of Educational Development at Harvard Medical School. He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto in the divisions of Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine. He was previously the Program Director for Adult Infectious Diseases at the University of Toronto from January 2010 to April 2021. Recognitions have included the Dr. E. Mary Hollington Award from the Medical Alumni Association at the University of Toronto (1994 and 1996); the Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award from the Professional Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario (2005 and 2006); the W.T. Aikins Award for Individual Teaching Performance from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto (2006); and the University of Toronto Excellence in Postgraduate Medical Education Award for Teaching Performance / Mentorship / Advocacy (2007). In 2018, he received the Dr. Juan A. Embil Mentorship Award in Infectious Diseases from the Canadian Foundation for Infectious Diseases.
