Biography

Rob Fowler is a general internal medicine and critical care physician, H. Barrie Fairley Professor at the University of Toronto, and chair of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group. Rob’s clinical and academic focus includes access and outcomes of care for acutely ill patients and infection-related critical illness. He is the lead for CIHR COVID-19 Network of Clinical Trials Networks, co-principal investigator with Dr. Srinivas Murthy of the Canadian Treatments for COVID-19 (CATCO) Trial and, with Dr. Nick Daneman, co-principal investigator of the Bacteremia Antibiotic Length Actually Needed for Clinical Effectiveness (BALANCE) Trial. He tries to devote a portion of each year to clinical and academic mentorship in resource challenged settings and assists the World Health Organization during infectious outbreaks.
