Kelvin Chan

Biography

Dr. Chan is a medical oncologist and health services researcher. His research is focused on evaluating the clinical benefits, safety, and cost-effectiveness of cancer drugs to inform policy with respect to access to these therapies. He has leveraged his training in statistics, health economics, clinical epidemiology, and clinical medicine to develop and apply novel methods in his research. He has made major contributions, recognized internationally, to both the understanding of the “value” of cancer therapies as well as to the methodological approaches and rigour with which we assess “value”.

To ensure his research findings impact policy and practice, Dr. Chan has been actively engaged in leadership roles with national and provincial drug review and funding processes. For example, he serves as the clinical lead for the Provincial Drug Reimbursement Programs (PDRP) at Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO) and co-directs the Canadian Centre of Applied Research in Cancer Control (ARCC).
