Gyl Midroni

Biography

Dr. Gyl Midroni is a full time Clinician Teacher in the Division of Neurology at St. Michael’s Hospital. Dr. Midroni’s focus is the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders and the theory and practice of electromyography. He has been director of the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology for 3 decades, and currently heads the Division of Neurology as well.

Dr. Midroni is grateful to his many students and colleagues who have recognized him over the years with 4 Neurology Resident Starkman teaching awards, the PAIRO Excellence in Teaching award, the University of Toronto Postgraduate Medical Education award for Development & Innovation, the Michael Ward Mentorship award, and now this honour, of which he is not sure he is entirely worthy.

Dr. Midroni takes great pleasure in constantly reminding his students that the most important test in neurology is the “test of time”. His greatest professional joy is seeing his former students evolve from keen but clueless first year neurology residents into skilled clinicians, colleagues, and leaders in their field.
