Dr. Wilcox’s research has made major contributions in two areas: cognition and sleep related to critical illness; and the quality of critical care. She is advancing understanding of the role of sleep disruption during critical illness in post-illness cognition, and modifiable risk factors for poor ICU outcomes among critically ill patients. Additionally, she is a founding member of Society of Critical Care Medicine THRIVE, a newly created international collaborative with the objective of improving patient and family support after critical illness.
