Biography

With a clinical and research focus on breast cancer and advanced training in clinical epidemiology, Dr. Amir has based his scholarly work on knowledge synthesis in cancer medicine using advanced research methods, including statistical modeling, systematic review, and meta-analysis, to inform health policy. He has established highly productive collaborative networks and is recognized internationally in the cancer field for his expertise in knowledge synthesis. He has used these methodologies to explore the risk-to-benefit ratio of cancer treatments and cancer biomarkers, resulting in numerous high impact publications that have influenced clinical practice guidelines.

Dr. Amir serves as Co-Chair of the American Society for Clinical Oncology Education Subcommittee on The Impact of Big Data on Practice, Policy and Patient Care. He served on a Bone Metastasis Working Group for the FDA and as a faculty advisor on several international meeting committees. He was also an invited expert for a New England Journal of Medicine forum on medical oncology trials.
