Diego Delgado

Biography

Dr. Delgado has been an ardent advocate for heart failure prevention through education in Canada and internationally, with a particular focus on Central and South America. His summative accomplishments and international reputation are illustrated by his leadership of national and international groups and societies, leadership of the development of many international guidelines, and engaging in public education and advocacy internationally. As a member of the board of the World Heart Federation, Dr. Delgado leads two international projects in Chagas Disease, including a Prevention Project in South America. As a member of the American Heart Association Scientific Meeting Initiatives Working group, he fostered collaborations across the Americas and co-authored their “Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support in Congenital Heart Disease Scientific Statement”, which was the first guideline to lay out the indications, post-transplant management of, and use of mechanical circulatory support in patients with congenital heart disease and advanced heart failure. Dr. Delgado has also created unique opportunities for clinical training in his field.
