Danny Panisko

Biography

Dr. Danny Panisko is Professor of Medicine and a Clinician Educator within the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto and at the Department of Medicine, University Health Network. He is also the current Gladstone and Maisie Chang Chair in the Teaching of Internal Medicine at the University Health Network and University of Toronto.

He obtained his MD from the University of Manitoba, his Internal Medicine Residency Training at the University of Toronto, and his Master’s of Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University with Delta Omega honors.

Dr. Panisko currently is the Co-Director of the Department of Medicine’s Master Teacher Program. This is a two year, longitudinal, one-half day per week course in instructional development for faculty and senior trainees that is now entering its nineteenth year. It has enrolled over 235 faculty members and has won the inaugural Faculty-wide Helen P. Batty Faculty Development Award for Program Excellence. Dr. Panisko is also the Co-Lead for Faculty Development for Competence by Design for the Department.

Dr. Panisko is the current Co-Director of the Oral Examination Board in Internal Medicine for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and is an external examiner for the Internal Medicine Board of the Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialization. Dr. Panisko has been the recipient of the Canadian Association of Medical Education Award of Merit, and the Sir William Osler Award of the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine.
