Biography

Arthur is an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Coordinator, Multidisciplinary Sjogren’s Clinic, Division of Rheumatology, University Health Network. He has served as the Program Director, Division of Rheumatology, University of Toronto. He has received the Wightman-Berris Individual Teaching Award, and the W.H. Anderson Teaching Excellence Award from the Dept of Medicine, University of Toronto. He has been honoured with the Dafna Gladman Award, University of Toronto for outstanding lifetime contribution to the Rheumatology program, University of Toronto. He has authored 52 peer reviewed articles, as well as book chapters, editorials and abstracts. He has been invited to speak internationally and nationally.
Arthur has served as a former President of the Canadian Rheumatology Association; Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of The Arthritis Society; President of the Journal of Rheumatology; Editor-in-Chief of the CRA Journal and Chief of the former Trihospital Division of Rheumatology.

In 2020 February, he was recognized as a Master by the Canadian Rheumatology Association where he was given the highest honour as the Canadian Distinguished Rheumatologist in 2007. He was recognized as Rheumatologist of the Year by the Ontario Rheumatology Association in 2019.

Arthur was given the Award of Distinction by the Arthritis Society for his long service to that organization and the Service and Leadership Award, Sjogren’s Society of Canada where he still serves as Chair of their Medical Advisory Committee.
